Dental Hygienist

If you haven’t seen a dental hygienist for a while, then give us a call. We have an experienced team of hygienists keen to bust the myth that seeing a hygienist is a time consuming and painful experience; cleaner teeth need less professional cleaning. So visit your hygienist regularly and you’ll spend less time in our hygienist’s chair!

In addition to providing a professional teeth clean, our hygienists will use their insight and experience to coach you on oral hygiene. This service plays a vital role in the prevention and treatment of gum disease.

We are sure that you’ll be delighted with the Matlock dental care experience. So, contact us now to

What's the difference between dental hygienists and dentists?

Whilst Dentists are trained professionals responsible for their patient’s oral health, Dental hygienists help patients maintain good oral health habits, demonstrating effective brushing and flossing techniques that can help prevent gum disease. They are also trained to clean teeth, remove hardened plaque (tartar) and staining. In this way, they are a vital member of our dental team.

If you do have gum disease, then our dental hygienists will help you to understand your disease and teach you how to help yourself.

Teeth and gum cleaning with Airflow

Airflow cleaning is used by our team of dental hygienists as an adjunct to traditional dental tools, to remove hardened plaque (tartar) and staining.

Here at Matlock Dental Care, alongside our standard dental hygienist service we also offer the Airflow system.

How does Airflow work?

Very smoothly! The Airflow system is a clever little machine that sends a jet of compressed air, water and bicarbonate particles to help the hygienist gently clean and polish the teeth.

Airflow is a pain free treatment that doesn’t require any anaesthetic. And it doesn’t affect your treatment time; our standard 30-minute slot should be sufficient. It’s an excellent way to remove surface staining from the teeth.
