Dental Implants in Brighton

If you have lost one or more teeth, then dental implants can be a good alternative to dentures. If you are considering dental implants or would like to know more then read on or contact us today

Implants are created by placing a titanium implant into the bone of your upper or lower jaw. The post sits beneath the gum line. The replacement tooth, teeth or bridge is then mounted to an abutment which is fixed on to the titanium post. This process needs to be done in stages and can be done within 8 to 10 weeks.

Dental implants are permanently placed in your mouth and are not removable.

How long do dental implants take?

Whilst each case is different, there are 4 distinct phases to fitting dental implants and we’d expect this to be done within 8 to 10 weeks.

THE 4 STEPS TO FITTING DENTAL IMPLANTS

1. Consultation and preparation – The decision to deploy dental implants is an important one which we can only take once we have assessed your mouth and explored the pros and cons with you

2. Placing the Titanium implant(s) into the bone of your upper or lower jaw.

3. Fitting the abutment – Which connects the implant to the artificial tooth. This process can only start once the gum has healed around the implant

4. Fitting the artificial tooth or crown.

Does getting implants hurt?

No. Your dentist will talk to you about each of the stages required and agree a pain management plan with you. Typically, this would consist of a local anaesthetic. Conscious sedation is available for patients who request it, or for complicated procedures.
